A ‘superprovince’ plan will be announced

Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba appear to have chosen to form Canada’s first’superprovince’ after years of deliberation. The new plan, which will be revealed later today, highlights a number of concerns that the provinces believe should be addressed jointly.

Prairie Canada: Population

First and foremost, there is the population. There is rising worry in the middle provinces that their population does not match the supposed impact each should have on the country as a whole. However, by combining each province (Manitoba has 1.4 million people, Saskatchewan has 1.2 million, and Alberta has 4.4 million), the resultant superprovince will have a population of around 8 million people. It’s still less than Toronto’s population, but it’s a lot more than British Columbia and only slightly less than Quebec!

Prairie Canada: Size

Next up is the size. The guiding light here, as with population, is that while the new superprovince isn’t the largest province in the world, it is nevertheless more than the sum of its parts. With Alberta contributing 662,000 square kilometers, Manitoba 648,000 square kilometers, and Saskatchewan 651,000 square kilometers, the resulting area would be somewhat smaller than Nunavut but larger than the rest of the country. “It’s not large, but it’s obviously significant enough,” a source close to the situation stated.

Prairie Canada: Infrastructure and the economy

Infrastructure and the economy are last but not least. According to the concept, the new superprovince would be similar to America’s ‘flyover States,’ focusing nearly entirely on producing tourism and sightseeing. A new ‘year-round Stampede,’ a theme park/heritage village/hockey rink with the working moniker of “The Pride of the Prairies,” and, of course, the Mall of Canada have all been mentioned in relation to this aspect of the proposal.

Prairie Canada: Names

A few names are planned to be included in the scheme. Canadoitbetter, Alsaskitoba, and, of course, Mid-Land are among them. However, word on the street is that getting the Tolkien estate to sign off on such clear Lord of the Rings connotations has been difficult. Plus, proponents of the proposal have expressed reluctance to do so, claiming that “some of their children’s friends have disparaged the phrase.”

The plan does, however, state that the new name, as well as a prospective capital for the new area, will be selected by popular vote. We anticipate heated competition, since residents of the various communities will be permitted to vote many times to demonstrate their commitment to the opportunity.

Prairie Canada: Schedule

And what about a schedule? Nothing is fixed in stone, after all. The superprovince would come together “after everyone of Canada is on the same page regarding that problem,” according to a source close to the situation, but refused to clarify. Folks, it could take a few years.

Who is eligible to practice beneath the new Tech Talent Pathway?

To be eligible, candidates to the Tech Talent Pathway must:

Obtain an SINP Job Approval Letter that is employer-specific and for an eligible tech area occupation;

If working in Saskatchewan, secure a minimal Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) stage 5; or

If your occupation is regulated in Saskatchewan, you need to be eligible for licensing to qualify for this program. The following occupations require licensing:

NOC 2133 – Electrical and Electronics Engineers

To exhibit you are eligible for licensing, you have to furnish a letter from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) that suggests your utility registering as an Engineer-in-Training has been approved, or a letter from APEGS displaying that you have been assigned Confirmatory Exams.

What is a Saskatchewan Job Approval Letter?

Job Approval Letters (JAL) can be used via foreign nationals to follow for Saskatchewan nomination.

No FSW Draw in 2022? | Backlogs will increase to 3 years

A recent internal IRCC memo was obtained through ATIP – which discloses that IRCC may delay the Express Entry draws in 2022 and the application processing times may increase to 3 years.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted an Express Entry draw today for provincial nominees only. They have stated internally that they do not expect any FSW or CEC draws to occur in the next six months.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has stated internally that they do not expect any FSW or CEC draws to occur in the next six months. IRCC anticipates that when draws do resume, applicants will need a CRS score of at least 500 for the first six months of draws. They also anticipate that they will draw 50% fewer FSW and CEC applicants than expected to make room for applicants in other programs.November 24, 2021 internal IRCC Memo states that FSWC processing times are expected to rise to 36 months in 2022 and that the Federal High Skilled admissions target in upcomming years could be reduced by more than 50% due to the TRPR backlog and Afghan refugee resettlement.

In the latest update on Canadian immigration, the country is all set to announce its new immigration target for the years 2022-2024. The announcement was set to release in November 2021 but could not due to its September elections.

These immigration level plans for the years 2022-2024 will be announced on February 10, 2022.

October 30, 2020—Ottawa—Following the tabling of the 2020 Annual Report to Parliament on Immigration, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is pleased to release details on the Government of Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan for 2021-2023. Canada aims to welcome 401,000 new permanent residents in 2021, 411,000 in 2022, and 421,000 in 2023.

Speaking with Bloomberg, the minister said he is prepared to increase Canada’s immigration levels if it is necessary to address labor shortages. Canada is currently experiencing significant job shortages in large part due to fewer immigrants arriving from overseas amid the pandemic.


Sean Fraser is not satisfied even though IRCC landed 46,000 immigrants in Canada. He also stated that Canada is taking steps to achieve its 401,000 newcomer target in 2021. IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) shows that 46,315 new permanent residents landed in October, and in September, 45,000 immigrants completed their landings.

AINP: Accelerated Tech Pathway program 

The Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway offers a fast-track to Canada immigration for candidates with jobs offers in one of 38 technology occupations.

The pathway falls under the Express Entry stream of the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP).

In order to be eligible for the tech pathway, Express Entry candidates need to have a job offer, or be currently working for an Alberta-based company in an eligible occupation.

Originally launched in 2017, the Atlantic Immigration Pilot has now brought over 10,000 new permanent residents to Atlantic Canada. Participating employers have made over 9,800 job offers in key sectors, including health care, accommodations, food services and manufacturing. Most significantly, over 90% of applicants were still living in the region after 1 year; a much higher retention rate than other programs.

Atlantic Immigration Program

In partnership with the Atlantic provinces, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada announces the launch of the Atlantic Immigration Program. This new permanent program will officially open on January 1, 2022. Applicants can submit their application for permanent residence on March 6, 2022 if they have received a valid provincial endorsement. This new program has at least 6,000 admission spaces available each year.
